Adopt Timmi

Mixed Breed · Unknown

The brown sheep Timmi, with a black head, comes from the Lower Rhine and was rescued from slaughter in 2014 together with her companion Joseph by a animal friend. The butcher on the Lower Rhine would place the sheep on his pasture when they were four months old, as then they no longer needed their mother's milk. During the summer, they were still allowed to run around on the pasture, but in late autumn, he slaughtered them in his own slaughterhouse on his farm. A long transport was thus spared to his sheep, but the smell of blood filled the entire farm, as he also slaughtered other animals there. The fear of those animals was also not hidden from the sheep on the pasture. Perhaps it was also because of the blood smell that Timmi was very restless and wild, which is why the butcher (also because of the wool) did not notice that she was a ewe. Otherwise, she would have been returned to the shepherd to become a breeding ewe for poor fattening lambs. So, Timmi was lucky to be rescued. That she is not a ram, was only discovered by the veterinarian at the Uniklinik in Gießen when Timmi was brought there with Joseph for castration. Timmi can now lead a carefree life in the large sheep herd in Simmern, but she still needs sponsors. Now fill out a sponsorship declaration.

About Timmi

What life with Timmi looks like

Timmi is a medium-sized adult mixed breed animal waiting at Schutzengel für Tiere e.V. in Drolshagen.

Every animal has their own temperament and history. The shelter knows Timmi far better than any listing can convey — ask about daily routine, ideal household, and what kind of adopter they're hoping for.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Timmi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Timmi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schutzengel für Tiere e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Timmi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Timmi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schutzengel für Tiere e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Timmi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Timmi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schutzengel für Tiere e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Timmi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
