Tintin

Podenco · Male

Tintín is a cheerful, playful chap who comes to life around his canine friends. He absolutely loves romping and playing with other dogs—and give him a tennis ball and he is ready for fun! After being found wandering in Ronda, Tintín was rescued by a local family and later taken to the municipal pound. Our partner shelter then stepped in to help him. Since arriving with them, he has blossomed from a fearful dog into a happy youngster who makes the most of every playful moment. Tintín is still nervous of people, but he is making steady progress. He learns quickly by watching other dogs and is beginning to seek out human company too, especially when treats are involved. Gentle walks on a lead will help him keep building positive relationships with people. Tintín’s ideal home will include a friendly, confident resident dog who can be his playmate and help him feel secure as he settles in. His new family should be patient and understanding, giving him the time and space to build trust at his own pace. With kindness, positive experiences, plenty of playtime and a good supply of tennis balls, this fun-loving boy will continue to flourish—and bring lots of joy and laughter to his new home. Tintin is neutered, vaccinated and tested negative for all Mediterranean diseases. He is passported and available for adoption now. If you would prefer to make a one off donation, please click below

About Tintin

What life with Tintin looks like

Tintin is a adult podenco dog waiting at Hope for Podencos in Albacete.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tintin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tintin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hope for Podencos handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tintin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tintin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hope for Podencos will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tintin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tintin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hope for Podencos early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tintin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
