Toad

Female · Kitten · 5 months

Meet Toad, the unstoppable "Tri-Pod" Dynamo! Do not let the missing limb fool you, this young lady is a bouncy, gravity-defying dynamo. She doesn’t just walk into a room; she arrives with a flourish, using her unique gait to launch herself into playful antics that keep everyone entertained. She possesses an infectious, larger-than-life character that makes it impossible to look at her without smiling. She is a bundle of youthful energy, she treats the world as her personal playground. She loves chasing toys, pouncing on shadows, and proving that three legs are more than enough to achieve maximum velocity. But, she is also delightfully cheeky and has a mischievous streak a mile wide. Whether she’s playing with a mouse toy or staring you down from a place she isn't supposed to climb, she knows exactly how to bend the rules with a wink. She is a natural comedian who thrives on the reaction she gets from her audience. She is an absolute conversationalist. Instead of a standard meow, her signature greeting is a cheerful, melodic trill. It is her way of announcing her presence, saying a warm hello, and checking in on her humans. When it is time to wind down, she loves a good cuddle. She will happily curl up next to you, purring up a storm. However, she balances this sweetness with a strong independent streak, once her social battery or cuddle quota is full, she will proudly strut off to do her own thing. Due to Toad's early history of being raised by a protective mother who didn't allow much human contact with her kittens, and her subsequent leg injury and surgery, she missed out on some early socialisation. She therefore will require understanding, respectful owners who will respect her nature and not be tempted to overhandle her, giving her time and choice to seek attention when she chooses. Toad will need access to a private garden due to her being a tripod cat. Manual access will be fine but she may struggle to use a catflap so her new owners will need to ensure that she can master this if they'd like to offer her one. About Toad

What life with Toad looks like

Toad is a medium-sized kitten cat waiting at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Toad, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Toad?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Toad on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Toad if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Toad already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Toad isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Toad and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
