How do I contact the shelter about Toby?

Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Toby on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.

Can I adopt Toby if I live in another country?

Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.

Is Toby already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?

Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.

What happens if Toby isn't the right fit?

Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Toby and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.

Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?

TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.

Toby

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 4 years

♂, born around 2022 friendly - active - social in Spain Toby is a ca. 2022 born Mastin Espanol(?)-mixed-breed male dog with a shoulder height of ca. 82 cm. Toby was found tied up and with the leash wrapped around himself, full of mud, on a field at the beginning of December 22. The owner of Toby did not care about how the young dog was faring and what was happening to him, so he was brought to the nearest animal shelter for safety. Since then, he has been waiting at the animal shelter Manzanares/Spain for a loving home. The loving, friendly, and rather active male dog now seeks his final happiness with engaged people who have a lot of time for him, challenge and support him, teach him the dog ABC with patience and calm, and ideally integrate him into their daily lives with regular visits to dog training classes. With Toby, he will finally experience the affection, love, and care that he has not had before. Toby is well compatible with fellow animals of both sexes. He would like and be able to be rehomed with further social-compatible sovereign fellow animals, preferably of similar age and size. For Toby, a loving home with active engaged people is sought, who have a lot of time for him and enjoy spending time with him. A quiet rural home and environment would be adequate and ideal for him. An urban environment, whether inside or outside, would not be right for Toby. He is very people-oriented and will not be rehomed in a kennel or outdoor setting. Toby will be neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and tested for Mediterranean diseases. He is located at the animal shelter of Manzanares/Spain. The adoption fee for Toby is 460 Euro. About Toby

What life with Toby looks like

Toby is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. in Berlin.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.
