Adopt Toby

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Have you smiled today? No? Then take a look at Toby's face. And if you have already smiled, then do it again. Doesn't he have a striking mask? Toby only exists once. We can guarantee that. As pretty the mask, as soft the fur, as cute the whole dog is – Toby sits in the State animal shelter Bucharest and waits eagerly to be seen. For the photoshoot, Toby was set in a nice backdrop. His current quarters look different. What is real in the photos is only Toby himself. Unfortunately, we cannot tell you much about Toby's history. ASPA's dogs were either caught, given up, or seized by authorities due to catastrophic living conditions. The reasons are similar: dogs are discarded once they outgrow the puppy stage and are no longer useful as playthings. They are thrown out onto the streets because they are no longer wanted. They are tied to trees, kept on chains, and… Please forgive us. I am sure you already know about all these things. Thank you first for showing interest in the little Toby. The shelter workers describe him as very friendly and exceptionally cuddly. They write: "Toby enjoys being stroked. He shows no aggression towards the shelter cats and gets along well with other dogs." We assume that Toby has never experienced the security and comfort of a home. He has no idea what a soft dog bed or toys are. He has never gone for a walk, received mental stimulation, or affection. All of this he can only learn when he takes his first step out of his kennel, when he places his paws in soft grass, into a real home with loving and patient people, maybe with a nice dog buddy or a small group of dogs. Only then does Toby's life begin. What he has now is mere survival. Now we are both not smiling anymore, are we? Now we must take a quick look at Toby's little face. Then it will be back. Thank you for listening. And if you are considering bringing this charming puppy home to share the world, the beautiful sides of life with him, then please write to his mediator or call her during the day. Ask all your open questions. You will be given friendly and competent advice. Good luck, dear Toby. May your brave doggy heart be welcomed by good people. © 2006-2024 by animal welfare association Europa e.V. This animal was abandoned.

Haben Sie heute schon gelächelt? Nein? Stellen Sie all Ihre offenen Fragen. Sie werden freundlich und kompetent beraten.Viel Glück, liebster Toby. About Toby

What life with Toby looks like

Toby is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Toby, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Toby?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Toby on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Toby if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Toby already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Toby isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Toby and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
