Tokio

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

The little Tokio was found alone with his siblings Venice, Rio, Berlin, London, Paris, and Lisbon in the small town of Kypseli. There was no sign of their mother anywhere. It quickly became clear that the seven dwarfs would have no chance of survival on their own. At the animal shelter of Animal Protection, they found a temporary safe home and are well cared for. Some of Tokio's siblings were initially very shy and anxious. Fortunately, this quickly improved. Tokio, however, was from the beginning a cool guy. Very open, active, and interested. Now the dwarfs have grown into handsome young dogs who look forward to a bright future full of hope. Tokio shows himself at the animal shelter as a cheerful, very open dog. He is confident, loves exploring new things, and knows no fear. Tokio has his siblings under control. Especially the anxious ones always look up to him and let him go first. Tokio enjoys this greatly. He takes care of his little sister Venice or his brother Rio. Tokio is now exactly the right age to learn everything necessary for living in a family. So far, he has not learned much about the big wide world. But with Tokio you can explore adventures. He will become a loyal, reliable partner for his people. We could imagine that attending a dog training class would be great fun for Tokio. He is willing to learn and very intelligent. For Tokio we wish an active, adventurous family that warmly embraces the sweet puppy in their heart and is ready to accompany Tokio on his life journey, no matter what comes. Tokio will certainly be loyal for life, no matter how rocky their shared path may become. The animals are described as they behave in the animal shelter or in the foster home. This behavior does not appear immediately upon arrival. Some also initially react with anxiety to the new situation. Animals from the animal protection have all had a past, which was mostly unpleasant or cruel. This past cannot be shaken off overnight. They need time to arrive and to build trust. Please be patient and give your pet the necessary time!

About Tokio

What life with Tokio looks like

Tokio is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina in Berlin.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tokio, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tokio?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tokio on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tokio if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tokio already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tokio isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tokio and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
