Toni-8

Male · Adult · 7 years

Toni, a handsome dog, arrived at the shelter on May 13, 2024. Originally rescued from Ukraine by a German organization and brought to safety in Hungary, his past life is unknown. Since then, he has been waiting for a positive change in his life at the Kecskemét animal shelter. Unfortunately, we cannot change his past, but his future is very important to us, and we are rooting for Toni to finally find happiness. Toni is a nice, friendly, and beloved four-legged friend, but he has been in the shelter too long without being discovered by anyone. He has not experienced many things that are part of everyday life for family dogs. For over two years, a kennel has been his home, where he cannot develop or flourish, even though there is much potential within him. Toni needs people at his side whom he can rely on 100% and who will guide him step by step through the daily things of life. Toni is a smart dog, he wants to learn, be challenged, and encouraged when he finally arrives in his new home. He already walks well on a leash, which can certainly be further developed, and with loving guidance, he will quickly understand the ABCs of dogs. Toni gets along with his fellow dogs but is housed alone in the kennel. (As of July 3, 2026) We are looking for a patient and dog-enthusiastic home for our wonderful Toni, where he can finally arrive. He should experience daily walks, have his own cozy bed, be exercised appropriately, relax, feel safe, trust reliable two-legged friends who show him that he is valuable, go through all the ups and downs with him, and appreciate him. Who will Toni become a loyal friend to? Unfortunately, Toni has a tumor on his left side; further investigations are ongoing, and an update will follow. As for vaccinations, Toni is ready to travel.

DE·Show original

About Toni-8

What life with Toni-8 looks like

Toni-8 is a adult dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Toni-8, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Toni-8?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Toni-8 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Toni-8 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Toni-8 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Toni-8 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Toni-8 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
