ToTo

Cairn Terrier Β· Male Β· Adult Β· 8 years

I would like a home filled with love and kindness! I need a resident dog to help me settle in and I don't mind cats I would like a secure garden to spend time in. I’ve never been on walks before and will need a gentle introduction. I have never lived in a home so I will need help to learn house training. I have a Grade 1-2 heart murmur. Please read below for more info! 05-11-26 ToTo is a sweet but nervous boy who has come to us from a breeder and is ready to begin his new chapter. He is still trying to understand us humans and find his paws in this big, unfamiliar world, but he doesn't mind being handled and is slowly learning that people can be kind. ToTo relies on his kennel friends for comfort and reassurance, so he will need at least one kind and understanding resident dog in his new home who can help him feel safe and give him the confidence to explore his new surroundings. Having a canine friend by his side will be a great comfort as he begins to learn about the routines of home life and all the new experiences that come with it. ToTo has never lived in a home before, so his adopters will need to be patient and gentle as he learns about house training, walking on a lead and settling into a completely different way of life. He will need time to adjust at his own pace, with plenty of kindness and encouragement to help him build his confidence without feeling overwhelmed. ToTo is a worried little chap who is still discovering that the world can be a safe and happy place, but with the right support, we hope to see him blossom into a much more confident boy. He just needs someone willing to give him a chance and show him how lovely life can be. He can live with older, dog-savvy teens aged 16+ who are sensible and will allow him time to settle in. Our vets have detected a Grade 1-2 heart murmur during ToTo's examination. An ultrasound assessment was attempted, and his heart valves appeared normal in both structure and movement, with no other abnormalities seen. Our vets have recommended a referral to a cardiology specialist if ToTo develops any heart-related symptoms in the future. His adopters will need to be aware of this, as the heart murmur will be considered a pre-existing condition and will not be covered by insurance. This dog can be homed with a resident dog. This dog can be homed with cats.

About ToTo

What life with ToTo looks like

ToTo is a large adult cairn terrier dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible β€” a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting ToTo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about ToTo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw ToTo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt ToTo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is ToTo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if ToTo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know ToTo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
