Trent

Beagle Β· Male Β· Young Β· 2 years

Trent has been very popular since his arrival at our centre with his happy friendly nature and slight odd appearance! He's a young Staffy Beagle cross, very active and has been enjoying exploring the centre and park next door. In his previous home, Trent liked to chew objects that had been left within his reach, such as shoes and clothing, so best to make sure he has appropriate toys to chew on and things to do if he's by himself, and to keep personal items out of reach. Trent has happily greeted other dogs that he's met but doesn't really pursue any further interaction, taking himself off to do something else. He's probably happy enough to be the only dog at home, but some walking friends might be nice for him just to keep him socialised. Trent is a very playful boy and gets lovely and boisterous when the toys come out! His favourites are tuggies and chasing anything that you throw for him. Car travel doesn't seem to be an issue for him, he jumped in ours quite happily and he does know a few cues. Trent can live with children of high school age but is more suited to being the only pet. He is house trained but not used to being alone for any length of time, so would need his adopters to build up any alone time gradually.

About Trent

What life with Trent looks like

Trent is a young adult beagle dog waiting at Dogs Trust Merseyside in Liverpool.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Trent, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Trent?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Merseyside handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Trent on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Trent if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Dogs Trust Merseyside will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Trent already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Trent isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Merseyside early rather than rehoming privately; they know Trent and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
