adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Truffle has found his people! His story: Our Truffle lives up to his name, for he is at least as sweet as a chocolate truffle. And the charming puppy also brings a large portion of charm and joie de vivre. Despite his not-so-easy start in life, he is cheerful, curious, and more than ready to explore the world. Together with his mom Paola and his siblings Ho’olana, Berry, Annabellie, Cupcake, Liah, and Neele, Truffle was found in an abandoned house. Due to the life-threatening conditions, unfortunately, one of the puppies did not survive. How wonderful it is to see how playful and carefree Truffle is today. Truffle really likes people. He comes on to them willingly, enjoys cuddles, and loves to be right in the middle of the action. He also shows good compatibility with other dogs; cats have not yet been tested. Typical puppy, he is lively and alert – with a good portion of mischief. Currently, Truffle is about 10 weeks old and weighs around 4 kg. When he grows up, he is expected to reach a larger medium size. Visually, Truffle is a true unique: His black, shiny fur resembles a dark chocolate truffle, and especially charming is his white foreleg with small white spots – almost as if someone had given him a little bit of sugar decoration. A little eye-catcher. Now, Truffle wants to learn the big dog ABC, build trust, and explore the world together with his people. For that, he is looking for a home that meets him with patience, loving consistency, and humor. Like with all young dogs, puberty will also knock on Truffle's door at some point – a time when it is often tested whether rules really apply and whether one can't be the boss after all. With clear, friendly guidance and a wink, he will master this phase safely. A visit to dog training classes, many positive experiences, and sufficient quiet phases will help him develop into a balanced and confident dog. As of early February, Truffle – after a positive evaluation – will be microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas and will of course bring his EU pet passport with him. Who would like to give the little truffle a loving home and accompany him on his journey through life? Truffle would also be very happy to have a foster home as a stepping stone to a new life. Many thanks, Roxana! Your namesake was the starting gun for a new life!.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen!

About Truffle

What life with Truffle looks like

Truffle is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Truffle, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Truffle?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Truffle on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Truffle if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Truffle already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Truffle isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Truffle and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
