Adopt Tyyni

Mixed Breed · Unknown

There was hardly any help for homeless dogs in the Cosoba area before Adina's yard. Therefore, information about the shelter kennel has spread quickly and locals know well where to take dogs in need of help. For the dogs, access to the shelter kennel is a big win, but for Adina, who constantly stretches her resources to the limit, the continuous flood of new dogs is difficult. Especially hard are the spring and autumn seasons, when many puppies are born. In addition to many people who rescue and bring their found stray puppies to Adina, also puppies of owned dogs end up in the shelter kennel. Although Adina continuously organizes free sterilizations in Cosoba, there are still many unsterilized dogs and puppies are born in large numbers. When puppies keep coming, the resources are only sufficient for absolutely essential needs. Therefore, some puppies grow up as shy, as they have very little social interaction and new experiences. Tyyni is one of these dogs that has grown up in the Cosoba shelter kennel. Adina says that Tyyni is not particularly shy around familiar people, but understandably, strange people are a bit stressful for him. Since Tyyn's life has always consisted of a small cage and familiar routines, strangers and noise confuse him. Then Tyyni retreats into his safe space. However, he quickly recovers and starts eating the treats thrown into the kennel after a short time. It is likely that Tyyni will adjust to a foster home or home relatively quickly once he gets there. Tyyni is calm for his age in the shelter kennel and he does not bark much. He gets along well with other dogs. Tyyni has a slight limp on his left hind leg. The leg will be examined before coming to Finland.

Jalka tullaan tutkimaan ennen Suomeen tuloa.

About Tyyni

What life with Tyyni looks like

Tyyni is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Embla Rescue in Helsinki.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇮Adopting from Finland

Finnish shelters require a home visit and an adoption contract. Animals are vetted; the EU pet passport covers cross-border travel within the bloc.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tyyni, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tyyni?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Embla Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tyyni on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tyyni if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Embla Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tyyni already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tyyni isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Embla Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tyyni and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FI). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
