How do I contact the shelter about Unknown?

Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundehilfe Polen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Unknown on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.

Can I adopt Unknown if I live in another country?

Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundehilfe Polen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.

Is Unknown already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?

Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.

What happens if Unknown isn't the right fit?

Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundehilfe Polen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Unknown and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.

Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?

TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.

103411 Czarus - Senior - Handicap - 2 VIDEOS - UPDATE 02/2026 103411 Czarus – Senior – Handicap - male dog, neutered, born ca. 2013 – 2014, shoulder height ca. 30 cm, at our area shelter since 12/2024. A very quiet, very loving little fellow who also walks well on a leash. According to the caretaker, he is rather dominant against some dogs. Perhaps a single kennel for the dog senior would be best. However, he is housed with male dogs and female dogs in the yard. (01/2025 MI/AX) Update 01/2025: The our area shelter shared with us about this little senior: The dog came to the shelter after a car accident. He was ultrasound-checked to examine his lung (no post-traumatic changes were found). We discovered that he has a murmur over the mitral valve, possibly due to his age. He is on Cardisure and Furosemid. (animal shelter Belchatow) Update 02/2025: The little male dog still sat in the hospital. Not because he is sick, but because it is nice and warm there. He is house-trained, and there was a diaper pad on the floor by his kennel: all his eliminations he did neatly there. He is the favorite of the veterinarians, who have already taken a liking to him. As previously described, he is very people-oriented. However, he should really be better on a single kennel, because during a test with a small, blind male dog, he immediately tried to dominate it. 103411 CZARUS - SENIOR - HANDICAP - 2 VIDEOS - UPDATE 02/2026 103411 Czarus – Senior – Handicap - Rüde, kastriert, geboren ca. 2013 – 2014, Schulterhöhe ca. 30 cm, im Tierheim Belchatow seit 12/2024. (B/WK) 2 Videos 02/2026 Videolink

About Unknown

What life with Unknown looks like

Unknown is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Hundehilfe Polen in Dierkshausen.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.
