Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Pluto – male dog, neutered, born ca. 2023, shoulder height ca. 46 – 48 cm, weight ca. 19 kg, in the animal shelter Belchatow since 30.12.2025. When Pluto was taken out of his pen, the situation initially did not sit well with him; he went into a slightly crouched position, looking a bit overwhelmed or helpless. We took him to the pasture, a bit away from the pens and the noise. Here, he moved more openly, his body posture becoming more relaxed. He initiated contact with us, showing more interest, albeit still a bit hesitant. Pluto shows friendliness and affection towards unfamiliar people, with a rather quiet, unobtrusive demeanor. The puppy lets himself be handled anywhere, I even get a kiss. In this, he is gentle and not stormy. Life in the pen is "too much" for him – as soon as he had some distance from the pen and could move a little, he became more open, showing a more relaxed demeanor. This dear fellow needs peace, affection, and a loving home to be happy, to open up fully, and to start his life. Pluto does not push himself forward, so he is quickly overlooked in the animal shelter. A nice, friendly dog, we hope very much that he can leave the animal shelter soon. (02/2026 B/KW)

Pluto – Rüde, kastriert, geboren ca. 2023, Schulterhöhe ca. 46 – 48 cm, Gewicht ca. 19 kg, Im Tierheim Belchatow seit 30.12.2025. (02/2026 B/KW)

About Unknown

What life with Unknown looks like

Unknown is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hundehilfe Polen in Dierkshausen.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Unknown, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Unknown?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundehilfe Polen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Unknown on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Unknown if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundehilfe Polen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Unknown already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Unknown isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundehilfe Polen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Unknown and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
