Urmeli

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 7 years

gutmütig, freundlich, compatible, noch etwas schüchtern Urmeli is a very gentle soul. She has probably already brought countless puppies into the world, her nursing telling her story. In April, she came to our regular spay/neuter events. She was very shy, tired from life on the streets, and spent the first weeks mainly sleeping. Often she lay in the sun, and one could see how deep and exhausted her sleep was. Finally, she no longer had to fight for food, safety, or a place to sleep. Urmeli was allowed to stay with us and now lives in our guesthouse. She is still somewhat shy and does not seek contact with people on her own. However, with a few treats, she can be convinced, and then she enjoys cautious cuddles. When the helper house is cooking or eating on the terrace, Urmeli is usually not far away. She would like to join in and hope for a small treat, but she still lacks the courage to take that final step. For Urmeli, we wish for a quiet, patient home with people who do not have expectations of her and give her the time she needs to adjust to her new life. A well-fenced garden, where she can lie in the sun during the day and observe the world, would be a small paradise for her. Once Urmeli has built trust, she will bond closely with her people. It just takes a little time for her soul to be ready to embrace it. Whoever gives her this time will have a particularly loving and grateful companion by their side. All are vaccinated, microchipped, and have an EU passport. They are checked for age-appropriate Mediterranean diseases. See more info on our homepage. Every dog that is placed makes room for another dog who is hungry and emaciated, struggling to survive.

AUFENTHALTSORT

About Urmeli

What life with Urmeli looks like

Urmeli is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. in Greece.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇷Adopting from Greece

Greek shelters often partner with Northern European rescue groups for placements. Animals are sterilized, vaccinated, and chipped before adoption. Fees vary widely depending on whether the shelter is municipal or NGO-run.

Frequently asked

Adopting Urmeli, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Urmeli?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Urmeli on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Urmeli if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Urmeli already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Urmeli isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Urmeli and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
