Ursula

Poodle · Female · Young · 3 years

17-07-26 Ursula is a sweet little lady who has come into our care from a breeder. She is confident enough to come over and greet you when you approach, but she can lose confidence when it comes to being handled and may retreat until she feels safe again. With patience and gentle reassurance, she is continuing to grow in confidence every day. Ursula could be the only dog in a home, provided her adopters have plenty of time to help build her confidence and support her as she settles into family life. She could also happily live with a kind and confident resident dog who she can look to for reassurance as she learns about home life and continues to gain confidence. Ursula could live with sensible, dog-savvy older children who will give her the time, space, and patience she needs to settle into her new surroundings. Having never lived in a home before, Ursula will need patient and understanding adopters to help her with house training and lead walking and all the new experiences that come with family life. Ursula is a gentle, affectionate little lady who simply needs a family willing to give her the time she deserves. With kindness, patience, and understanding, she is sure to blossom into a wonderful companion. Ursula has arrived with a bilateral Grade 2 patella luxation that may improve with gentle exercise but will need to be monitored in the home. Her adopters will need to be aware of this as it may not be covered by insurance. She has also arrived with an umbilical hernia that will be repaired during her spay. Ursula has a travel document. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Ursula

What life with Ursula looks like

Ursula is a young adult poodle dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ursula, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ursula?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ursula on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ursula if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ursula already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ursula isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ursula and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
