Adopt Vacciner son lapin, mais pourquoi

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Vet visit for little Thelma, after her spaying/neutering it was important for her to be vaccinated. But why vaccinate a rabbit? There are two essential vaccines for rabbits: the vaccine against myxomatosis and the one against viral hemorrhagic disease (VHD). These two very serious diseases are usually fatal, and there is no effective treatment to cure them. The vaccine does not prevent a rabbit from catching myxomatosis, but it reduces mortality and the severity of symptoms. Even a rabbit that lives on the fourth floor in a city is not safe, since transmission can occur through biting insects. Obviously, a rabbit that is allowed outside during the day or a rabbit that is given grass picked from nature will be much more exposed. Vaccinating your rabbit is also an opportunity, once a year, to have it examined and to check its health, even though we recommend at least two visits each year. Thelma, our little rabbit, will soon be available for adoption.
