Adoption Requirements | Adoption Process | Request Information About This Animal Now! Adoption Requirements | Adoption Process | Request Information About This Dog Now! Sometimes, a story begins sadly even before a puppy is born. Vago’s mother was given up by her first owner because she was too attached. The little dog ended up with an elderly couple who lived secluded in the mountains and barely had enough to get by themselves. There, she gave birth to her puppies. Food was scarce, and the family could offer the dogs little more than the bare minimum. As the puppies grew older and began hunting chickens out of hunger, their situation became increasingly difficult. Actually, Vago was supposed to be neutered as soon as he was old enough. But before that could happen, he was hit by a car. He suffered a complicated fracture, underwent surgery, and currently has a metal plate in his right hind leg. However, this plate will soon be removed. Vago has recovered well from the surgery and is now living at a foster home, where he can finally experience what other dogs take for granted: care, regular meals, and people who make time for him. Vago is a cheerful, playful young male dog who thoroughly enjoys all attention. He seeks closeness to his humans, loves shared moments, and shows himself to be exceptionally friendly—both toward people and other dogs. He’s also familiar with cats. Nevertheless, Vago is still at the beginning of his life. Many things will be new for him: living indoors, having set routines, going for walks in unfamiliar surroundings, or facing new everyday situations. His puberty hasn’t fully passed yet either. With patience, loving consistency, and a positively oriented dog training school, he’ll develop into a wonderful companion. For Vago, we’re looking for people who won’t pity him but will simply give him the chance to lead a completely normal dog life. People who look forward to welcoming a young dog, want to grow together with him, and will never abandon him again. Vago is chipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and travels with an EU pet passport. He will be placed after a positive pre-screening, signing a protection contract, and paying a protection fee. He’d also be delighted to find a suitable foster home. A big thank you goes to his sponsor, Nicolina W., who gave Vago his name—and with it, a piece of identity. A huge thank you also goes to Nicolina W. for your monthly sponsorship. As of July 7, 2026

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen!

About Vago

What life with Vago looks like

Vago is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Vago, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Vago?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Vago on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Vago if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Vago already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Vago isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Vago and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
