Valdo

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 6 years

Valdo, a handsome Hungarian mixed-breed dog, found his way to the shelter on July 31, 2026, after being spotted wandering aimlessly just outside Kecskemét. Fortunately, he was easily caught and brought to safety. Unfortunately, a microchip check came up empty, and no one reported Valdo missing. He now waits behind bars for his second chance at a happy life, where he can be loved and cherished by kind people. We're keeping our fingers crossed that he'll be discovered soon and set off on his journey to happiness. Valdo is still adjusting to his new life, with the noise and chaos of the shelter being a source of stress. However, he's a great dog, initially a bit shy, but once you break the ice with kind words and pets, he shows himself to be a cheerful and friendly canine who needs human companionship and lots of love. He needs nice humans who can provide him with stability and clear leadership that he can rely on 100%. He doesn't know much yet, and his new owners should lovingly teach him everything a dog needs to know for everyday life. He'll definitely put in the effort and be eager to learn, and it will be fun to spend time with him and teach him a few tricks. Valdo gets along well with his fellow dogs and is currently (September 9, 2026) being integrated into a mixed pack. We're looking for loving and adventurous dog friends for our charming Valdo, because he deserves the chance to move in with people he can trust and experience all the things he's always wanted: fun walks, dog-friendly exercise, love, security, daily pets, and 100% family connection. A home where he's cared for and can enjoy his life to the fullest. A wonderful dog is waiting for his happy ending! Valdo unfortunately has a short tail. For interested parties from Switzerland, a X-ray must be taken to determine whether he was born this way or if he was docked. Valdo can travel from around the end of September 2026 if he finds a home or foster family.

About Valdo

What life with Valdo looks like

Valdo is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Valdo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Valdo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Valdo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Valdo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Valdo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Valdo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Valdo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
