adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Vanilla has found her forever home! Her story: Vanilla and her sister Laila were found alone on the streets with just four weeks of age—they were far too young to have a chance there. Since then, they have been growing up in the shelter, where they daily show how much courage, joy of life, and affection can be found in such tiny puppy children. Vanilla with her white-beige fluffy fur is truly a little chocolate truffle on four legs: soft, sweet, delicate—and simply melts into your heart. She is playful, curious, and incredibly people-oriented. She actively seeks closeness, loves cuddles, and has this irresistible "Please just take me in your arms" look that touches everyone. She gets along well with other dogs and finds cats very interesting and friendly. Since Vanilla has only known the shelter so far, she needs people who can show her the world with patience and care. She still needs to learn the complete puppy ABC—house training, leash walking, car rides, new situations, encounters, and everyday sounds. And of course, puberty will also come, where little puppy girls like to try out how far they can go. With loving consistency, patience, and lots of positive reinforcement, she will master this phase wonderfully. As a small Bichon-Mix female dog, Vanilla will not grow much, but her heart is all the bigger for it. She is ideal for loving families, couples, or even single individuals who enjoy welcoming a puppy into their lives. She needs people who have the time to gently challenge her with short adventures, playful training, cuddle sessions, and small learning tasks that keep her clever mind engaged. Bichon Mixes are known as friendly, cheerful companions who greatly value the company of their people and are always around in everyday life. Vanilla travels microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, flea-treated, and with an EU pet passport after a positive. The adoption fee is 500 Euros. A huge thank you to the children of the "Around the Dog" course at Louise-Schroeder-School in Hamburg! You not only gave Vanilla her name but also the chance at a loving life. As of: 03.12.

Stand: 03.12.2025

About Vanilla

What life with Vanilla looks like

Vanilla is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Vanilla, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Vanilla?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Vanilla on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Vanilla if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Vanilla already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Vanilla isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Vanilla and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
