German Shepherd · Female · Adult · 4 years

Name: Venus Breed: German Shepherd Gender: female Size: approx. 61 cm Age: 15.11.2021 Weight: approx. 26 kg Child-friendly: Yes compatible with fellow animals: Yes compatible with cats: needs to be tested neutered: Yes Vet information: microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, EU-Pass Mediterranean test: negative Remarks: APAP.PLASENCIA Current location: Spain Euro incl. transport last update: February 2026 Venus – A loyal soul is looking for her new home! Venus was found alone in the streets of Plasencia and brought to the shelter. It was immediately clear: Venus is well-behaved, masters the basic commands, and shows herself to be absolutely well-mannered in the shelter. The animal welfare workers are sure that she once had a home and knows the benefits of living with humans. Her nature: Warm & active. She is very clingy and actively seeks the company of her trusted people. However, she is no couch potato: As a typical female German Shepherd, she is lively and wants to be both physically and mentally challenged. Whether long walks, head work, or fetch games – Venus is enthusiastic about it. We are looking for people who appreciate the loyalty and intelligence of a German Shepherd for Venus. Children: Are heartily welcome in the new home! As Venus is full of joie de vivre and of considerable size, the children should already be sturdy. Environment: An enclosed garden would be great, but is not necessary if she is sufficiently stimulated. Experience: Since she is already well-trained, she is also suitable for people who are looking for a reliable companion. Venus is eagerly waiting in the shelter to finally become a permanent family member and prove her loyalty. Application under www.pfotenhilfe-sachsen. Gets along with other dogs.

About Venus

What life with Venus looks like

Venus is a adult german shepherd dog waiting at Step by Paw e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Venus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Venus?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Step by Paw e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Venus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Venus if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Step by Paw e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Venus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Venus isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Step by Paw e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Venus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
