Viola 💗 NOV-GRAD 📍 Aufenthaltsort: Nova Gradiska - can be visited on site 🐾 General information: • Name: Viola • Age: approximately 2 years (as of October 2026) • Gender: female • Breed: mixed, probably with Tornjak influence • Weight: approx. 25 kg The descriptions of the dogs by the caretakers are based on current impressions on site and do not guarantee the future behavior or development of the dog. 🐾 Character & behavior: Viola is an exceptionally gentle and calm female dog. She is initially reserved with people: she prefers to observe strangers from a distance and retreats instead of approaching them directly. Once she has gained trust, she allows closeness and enjoys touch. Viola now trusts her caregiver very much. Viola values peace and feels particularly comfortable in her own retreat. She sometimes reacts sensitively to unfamiliar noises. She goes for walks with an older, confident female dog, which works very well. She has also gotten used to walking on a leash over time. Good food is definitely one of Viola's preferences - she can be wonderfully motivated with treats. And if something doesn't please her at the neighbor's, the otherwise quiet dog can indeed bark. 🐾 Her story: Viola was found with her two puppies in the stable of a house. An older man provided food for the small family there. Viola herself lived in the darkness of the stable, stared at the wall, and seemed depressed and hopeless. After her rescue, it quickly became clear that Viola reacted positively to human touch. She let herself be stroked from the beginning and gradually began to settle into her new life. Today, she slowly but steadily opens up and learns to trust people again. 🐾 Viola's dream home: • A quiet home with patient people who give her enough time to gain trust and build self-confidence • People who already have experience with anxious or shy dogs • Preferably a house with a securely fenced garden • An environment in which Viola has her own retreat and is not harassed • People who show her with calmness, patience and understanding that she is finally safe 💌 How you can help: ❣️ Adopt ❣️ Offer a foster home ❣️ Sponsorship ❣️ Share - so that Viola finds her own family 🐾💗

About Viola

What life with Viola looks like

Viola is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Hund sucht Hütte in Austria.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Viola, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Viola?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hund sucht Hütte handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Viola on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Viola if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hund sucht Hütte will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Viola already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Viola isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hund sucht Hütte early rather than rehoming privately; they know Viola and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
