Vito

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 5 months

Vito, a young Rottweiler-mix, was found curled up and alone in a deep ditch. His life would have been very different if caring neighbors hadn't discovered him. They initially provided him with food but couldn't keep him long-term. That's why they called our Hungarian partner shelter for help. Vito is now safe and eagerly waiting for his forever family. In the shelter, the young dog is still very cautious and submissive. He approaches strangers with restraint, needing time to get to know them before opening his heart. Once he overcomes his skepticism, his playful and active side emerges. He loves to run and shows his lively side. His further development will depend on the experiences he has outside the shelter. At four months old, Vito is still growing, which makes him a bit clumsy. Sometimes he doesn't know where his long legs will take him next, which makes him adorable. We can't provide reliable information about his expected adult size since his parents are unknown. However, we estimate he will be a medium-sized dog, around 50 centimeters tall when fully grown. Vito needs understanding and empathetic people who can patiently meet his needs and provide the necessary security. He needs time to get used to new situations at his own pace. His physical and mental stimulation is also crucial, as the dog loves long walks in the countryside. Children in the household should be stable, as young dogs often underestimate their strength, size, and speed. Vito hasn't experienced much in his short life, and the full dog training is still ahead of him. Housebreaking and leash training take time. With loving consistency, patience, and positive motivation, the clever dog will gradually develop into a loyal and reliable companion. Vito has endless love to give and deserves a wonderful home. Will you give him a chance? Vito travels with vaccinations, an identification chip, and an EU pet passport. He has been tested negative for heartworms. Due to his age, Vito is not yet neutered. All our dogs receive a safety harness upon departure. We would like to point out that all our rescue dogs often have little or no information about their history, so they are directly transferred from the shelters to their new families. They need a lot of time and patience, especially in the beginning. The animals are usually not house-trained, can't walk on a leash, and don't know any commands. They can also be shy or startled at first. Are you interested in this dog? Click this link to go directly to the adoption form.

Aktuelle Bilder

About Vito

What life with Vito looks like

Vito is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Paradies für Tiere e.V. in Reutlingen.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Vito, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Vito?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Paradies für Tiere e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Vito on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Vito if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Paradies für Tiere e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Vito already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Vito isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Paradies für Tiere e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Vito and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
