Vixen

Mixed Breed · Female

🐾 Meet Vixen – Looking for Her Forever Home 🐾 Everyone meet Vixen, our gorgeous little Pomeranian who has come such a long way since arriving with us in pretty poor condition. ❤️ When Vixen first came into our care, her coat was so badly matted that she had to be shaved right down. But while her physical transformation has been wonderful to see, it’s her emotional journey that has really touched us. Day by day, Vixen’s confidence is growing. 🥰 She is learning to trust the people around her, discovering that the world isn’t such a scary place and beginning to explore everything around her. Vixen is still a little nervous and will need someone who understands that confidence takes time. She isn’t looking for a home where everything is rushed — she needs patience, kindness and the opportunity to settle at her own pace. We feel Vixen would benefit enormously from living with another friendly, confident dog who can help show her the ropes and give her some reassurance. 🏡 A quiet, settled home 🐶 Ideally another friendly dog 🌳 A super-secure outdoor space ❤️ A patient family who understands that she will need time to build her confidence Vixen has already come such a long way, and we know that with the right person beside her, she will continue to blossom. She may need a little extra patience, but the love and companionship she will give in return will make every step of the journey worthwhile. ❤️🐾

About Vixen

What life with Vixen looks like

Vixen is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Almost Home Animal Rescue NI in Belfast.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇮🇪Adopting from Ireland

Irish shelters require a home check (often phone or video) and an adoption contract. Animals are vaccinated, chipped, and registered. Cross-border placements to mainland Europe require the rabies titer test (TRACES system).

Frequently asked

Adopting Vixen, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Vixen?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Almost Home Animal Rescue NI handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Vixen on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Vixen if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Almost Home Animal Rescue NI will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Vixen already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Vixen isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Almost Home Animal Rescue NI early rather than rehoming privately; they know Vixen and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
