Waldemar

European Shorthair · Male

neutered and microchipped: yes Desired housing form: Leash walk/security leash walk with cat company Waldemar is a true buddy type with a big heart and an even bigger preference for cuddles. At first, he meets new people with a bit of shyness and reserve, but once the ice is broken, there's no stopping him: Then, the loving tomcat would most love to be scratched around the clock, not just on his head, but very much also on his belly. With his laid-back figure and laid-back nature, Waldemar reminds a bit of Garfield. Instead of lasagna, cuddle sessions are at the top of his wish list. He is a calm, balanced tomcat who prefers to avoid conflicts and gets along excellently with other cats. Dominance behavior is completely foreign to him, Waldemar is simply a uncomplicated, friendly companion who enjoys getting along. For someone looking for a cuddly, laid-back companion who makes every day a little bit prettier with his lovable nature, Waldemar will find a true lifelong friend. For interest, we ask for a prior visit. This cat needs outdoor access.

About Waldemar

What life with Waldemar looks like

Waldemar is a large adult european shorthair cat waiting at Verein der Katzenfreunde e.V. in St. Ingbert.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Waldemar, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Waldemar?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Verein der Katzenfreunde e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Waldemar on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Waldemar if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Verein der Katzenfreunde e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Waldemar already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Waldemar isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Verein der Katzenfreunde e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Waldemar and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
