Adopt Węgielek

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Węgielek has been at the Shelter for a short time. He came to us from Košice. He is an older, exceptionally gentle dog of the spaniel type. He belongs to our geriatric group, which has its honorable place at the Shelter. He is a dog that makes contact with people in a very gentle and delicate way. During quarantine, he seemed to be strongly overwhelmed by being in the animal shelter, but since he has been living in his quietest corner, he has definitely opened up. He is a dog that does not show fear in response to moderate urban stimuli, and also handles well in a room with a yard, so he could live in an apartment and a house. He gets along very well with other dogs; we have never seen him in a conflict situation so far. From the Shelter: June 2025 Relationship with people: very social, demands contact with people Temperament: very calm, cheerful, stable Relationship with dogs: possible sharing of a home with another dog Relationship with cats: we don't know yet, but we can check Relationship with children: no problems are displayed, however, due to his age, it should be remembered that he may need a lot of peace Identification number: P125/2025 Box number: sector for geriatrics Photos:

Węgielek mieszka w Azylu od niedawna. Trafił do nas z Koszyc. To starszy, wyjątkowo łagodnie usposobiony pies w typie spaniela.

About Węgielek

What life with Węgielek looks like

Węgielek is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Azyl dla Zwierząt w Tarnowie in Tarnów.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Węgielek, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Węgielek?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Azyl dla Zwierząt w Tarnowie handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Węgielek on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Węgielek if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Azyl dla Zwierząt w Tarnowie will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Węgielek already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Węgielek isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Azyl dla Zwierząt w Tarnowie early rather than rehoming privately; they know Węgielek and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
