Wera

Mixed Breed · Female

Werka has been in the shelter for 2 years. She is a wonderful dog with a difficult past. She was taken from a short leash, she lived in terrible conditions. She didn't have a proper kennel, she was fed from drains, she didn't know what a walk or normal contact with a person was. Because of this difficult past, female dog had behavioral problems, which have been largely worked out. Today she is a different dog, if someone spends time with her - she will give her heart completely. She is very smart, calm, and quickly and eagerly learns. During her stay at the shelter EKOSTRAŻY, she stole the hearts of volunteers. She has made many progress and continues to work hard on some issues. She is missing one thing - a home... a caregiver who loves her just as much - as many people have loved her in the shelter so far. We are looking for a permanent or temporary home for her. The future home can count on behavioral support after adoption. We encourage you to come and meet this wonderful suni in person! Learn about her story - > In the house she does not destroy, she is not interested in flowers or shoes. She keeps cleanliness. Easily eats her pills and allows herself to be eyed. She is vaccinated, dewormed. She has a chip.

Bez problemu zjada swoje tabletki i daje sobie zakropić oczy. Jest zaszczepiona, odrobaczona. Posiada chip.

About Wera

What life with Wera looks like

Wera is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja EkoStraż in Wrocław.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Wera, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Wera?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja EkoStraż handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Wera on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Wera if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja EkoStraż will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Wera already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Wera isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja EkoStraż early rather than rehoming privately; they know Wera and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
