Whiskey

Collie · Male · Puppy · 5 months

Whiskey was admitted into our care as a stray puppy alongside his sibling Rum. After some time spent with our animal care team, he is ready to find his forever home! Initially he was very shy and quiet when he first arrived, however after spending a few days with our animal care team, he started to find his voice and fun personality! He can still be a little nervous around new people and in new environments but we are confident that if given the time and patience, he will settle well into his new home. Once he is settled, he is full of curiosity, mischief and a whole lot of love! He is an affectionate and playful boy, who has a great temperament and would make for a very loyal companion in the right home. As he was admitted as a stray, we are unsure of his breed mix, but he seems to be a collie mix-breed and will likely be medium in size once fully grown. Due to being a puppy, Whiskey would be best suited in a home with a family who are at home most of the day to help him during his settling period. He could live with children, over 8 years who are used to dogs and understand that he will need time to settle and adjust into his new home. He will require an active home, with a secure garden area where he can safely explore every inch of his new environment. Whiskey will also require all aspects of puppy training.

About Whiskey

What life with Whiskey looks like

Whiskey is a medium-sized puppy collie dog waiting at USPCA.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇮🇪Adopting from Ireland

Irish shelters require a home check (often phone or video) and an adoption contract. Animals are vaccinated, chipped, and registered. Cross-border placements to mainland Europe require the rabies titer test (TRACES system).

Frequently asked

Adopting Whiskey, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Whiskey?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. USPCA handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Whiskey on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Whiskey if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — USPCA will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Whiskey already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Whiskey isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with USPCA early rather than rehoming privately; they know Whiskey and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
