Willow

Labradoodle · Female · Puppy · 11 months

Willow is an 11-month-old Labradoodle who came to Islay through no fault of her own following a change in her family's circumstances. Before coming into our care, Willow lived happily with four other dogs, including Kaiser. She absolutely loves the company of other dogs and enjoys playtime, chase games, and having canine friends around. She would thrive in a home with another friendly, confident dog who could help her continue to build her confidence. Willow is a shy girl when meeting new people, but even in the short time she has been at Islay, she has made wonderful progress. As she has got to know the staff and volunteers, her confidence and trust have grown every day. We are confident that, with a little patience and understanding, she will quickly settle into her forever home and become a loving, devoted companion. She has a playful side and loves a run around a secure area, whether that's with other dogs or with the people she knows and trusts. She also walks beautifully on the lead and enjoys getting out for her walks. When Willow arrived, her coat was long and heavily matted. She has since been groomed, so her coat is currently very short, but it will soon grow back into the beautiful, curly coat Labradoodles are known for. Her new family will need to be committed to regular brushing and professional grooming to keep her coat healthy and prevent painful matting from happening again. Willow has not yet been cat tested, but this can be arranged if required.

About Willow

What life with Willow looks like

Willow is a puppy/kitten labradoodle dog waiting at Islay Dog Rescue in Cumnock (Ayrshire).

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Willow, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Willow?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Islay Dog Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Willow on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Willow if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Islay Dog Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Willow already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Willow isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Islay Dog Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Willow and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
