Woody

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Age?3 yearsModel?Black and white, boy.Personality?Mellow and just a little timid.Suitability?Suited to a quieter home.Other cats?Females introduced properly.Indoor cat?No busy roads or other hazards within 100m, please. Children?Seven years and older provided they are sensible and understanding. How about dogs?Depends very much on the breed and previous exposureIn care55 days Woody had been living at a hotel in Handforth for over a year being fed by the staff. But then it dawned, he might be better in a home rather than living outside 24/7. He came to us and, not microchipped, we advertised, unsuccessfully for his owner. We arranged for Woody to be castrated and receive basic health care and he’s now ready for a new home. He soaks up attention but, very occasionally, when you want to finish he tries to give a little swipe to say he wants more! It’s probably because, despite all our efforts, he’s bored in the shelter but, for this reason, we feel he needs a home with owners already used to cats. He appears to be a cautious soul but, again, that is probably be because of his recent background. He uses his tray reliably, is not fussy about food and has been healthy throughout our stay with us. As with all our cats, Woody has been vaccinated, wormed, flead, microchipped, and neutered before homing. To help offset these costs we respectfully ask for a minimum donation of £100 towards the cost of veterinary treatment. All Silk Cats come with four weeks of complimentary PetPlan insurance – we recommend you consider arranging your own insurance at the end of the four weeks – there is a guide here: About Insurance READY for homing – if you’d like to adopt, please read the information here: ‘Our Homing Process’ and then complete a matchmaker/registration form email: : silkcatrescue.org.uk/adopttelephone:

About Woody

What life with Woody looks like

Woody is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Silk Cat Rescue in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Woody, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Woody?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Silk Cat Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Woody on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Woody if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Silk Cat Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Woody already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Woody isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Silk Cat Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Woody and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
