adoption requirements adoption process Request this animal now! Relocation requirements Yuki can travel directly to his final destination! His story: If a dog's name could determine its fate, then Yuki would undoubtedly be the brightest dog on earth, for "____" means nothing else in Japanese but "luck." Unfortunately, the charismatic fellow has been waiting for quite some time to find a home, and his gaze is often too serious, his behavior cautious and quiet. Yuki needs time to build trust and be happy again. His turbulent teenage years are behind him, but his future lies ahead. And the approximately 7.5-year-old, about 55 cm tall mixed-breed male dog is more than ready for a new beginning. Which breeds are in him, we cannot say with certainty. It is therefore not impossible that he has elements of a herding dog or a guard dog. We are therefore looking for a home in a rural environment for Yuki. An outdoor garden would certainly be great for Yuki. Yuki is still reserved and needs patient, experienced people to help him settle in. Despite his long time in the kennel, he has shown that he can build positive relationships with the people he meets daily. His friendly nature is evident when he interacts with his caregivers, indicating that he is ready to form a close bond. He gets along well with other dogs and would feel comfortable in a home with experienced people who can responsibly handle dogs. Yuki has already made progress and is now more than happy to be touched. Putting on the harness and leash is no longer a problem. He is therefore more than ready to explore life in the house and learn new things. Yuki needs a family that gives him time to adjust—a family that offers him love and understanding and a second chance. We believe firmly that somewhere out there, there is exactly this family for him. And then Yuki would finally live up to his name and be happy. Yuki can travel to his new home neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. A positive Even a foster home would make Yuki very happy! A special thank you goes to Adriana W., who gave Yuki a name and thus an identity, and to Monika A., who supports Yuki through her monthly sponsorship. As of: 22.03.

Stand: 22.03.2024

About Yuki

What life with Yuki looks like

Yuki is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Yuki, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Yuki?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Yuki on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Yuki if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Yuki already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Yuki isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Yuki and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
