Adopt Zeus

Husky · Male · Senior · 9 years

Zeus was adopted as a puppy and lived in a family for many years. Later he got a dog partner to his side with Lia, also adopted. In his previous home, two large older dogs were no longer desired. Zeus and Lia were therefore predominantly stored in the patio at the washing room and spent a large part of their everyday life there. Lately, they hardly came out of this area. Due to the lack of movement on different backgrounds his paws became sensitive. Therefore, the sandy soil in the shelter initially caused him problems. Zeus came to the shelter with a slight overweight. He probably always had enough food, but he lacked attention. In an ophthalmic examination, a pigmentary keratoconjunctivitis was found on the left eye due to dry eyes. His eyes are healthy and his vision is good, but he needs a simple treatment to treat the eye problems. The veterinarian also tested Zeus negatively for Mediterranean diseases. Zeus is characteristic of a quiet, balanced and safe dog. He is not afraid of noises, is very human-related, hassle and playful. He is kind and obedient to volunteers. It is well tolerated with other dogs and can therefore easily enter the outlet in the large dog group. Zeus runs well on the leash, drives quietly in the car and has been able to study calmly and relaxed during the veterinary examination. Zeus wants a home with people who show him with patience his new everyday life and give him time to get used up. Zeus is looking forward to giving pleasure, beautiful walks and a lot of common time that has missed him lately. Who can give him a loving place of life?

About Zeus

What life with Zeus looks like

Zeus is a senior husky dog waiting at Melampo in Melampo.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zeus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zeus?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Melampo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zeus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zeus if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Melampo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zeus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zeus isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Melampo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zeus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
