Taros

Male · Senior · 10 years

TAROS OK. 10 YEARS OLD, 616093903153972 (123/26) VACCINATIONS: YES BOX: 30 At the shelter since May 13, 2026. Found in Rudniki. Taros is a large, senior dog with a big heart—but also an exceptionally sensitive soul. When he trusts someone, he can completely forget about his size; he’d happily jump onto your lap, cuddle endlessly, and snuggle like a puppy. For “his” person, he can be an absolutely wonderful, loyal companion. He’s not an easy dog and requires an experienced, understanding owner. The world can feel overwhelming to him. He’s afraid of loud noises and heavy street traffic. He’s starting to tolerate cars now, but dynamic objects—especially cyclists—cause him great anxiety, to which he reacts impulsively. He needs a stable, calm guide who can give him a sense of security and with whom he can walk through life. He’d thrive best in a quiet, peaceful neighborhood. Individuals interested in adopting Taros are invited to contact the shelter at 58/522 37 80 (daily during office hours).

About Taros

What life with Taros looks like

Taros is a large senior dog waiting at Schronisko Promyk Gdańsk in Gdansk.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Taros, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Taros?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Promyk Gdańsk handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Taros on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Taros if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Promyk Gdańsk will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Taros already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Taros isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Promyk Gdańsk early rather than rehoming privately; they know Taros and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
