Zoe

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Did you know that I'm becoming a little braver all the time? Since my arrival in the Netherlands, I've been discovering step by step how wonderful it is to trust people. I'm Zoe! By now I've been living with my foster family in the Netherlands for a few weeks. In the first days, I found everything quite exciting. A new country, a different home, and all sorts of unfamiliar impressions: of course I first had to process all of that. But as soon as I started to feel a little safer, my curious and playful side came out more and more. I'm a gentle, sweet and affectionate dog who loves seeking contact with people. Maybe there's a bit of shepherd in me, because I'm quite focused on my person and enjoy doing things together. I want to learn and do well. Give me some time to get to know you, and my trust will grow and I'll dare to show more and more of myself. Outside, I thoroughly enjoy walking, especially in a quiet, green environment. I love longer walks and it means a lot to me when my person occasionally lets me know that everything is all right. Meeting other dogs can still feel a bit exciting for me sometimes, although I am social with my fellow dogs. A stable, friendly dog in my new home could therefore be just right. Indoors, I'm also starting to find my feet. I'm house-trained, I travel well in the car, and I'm getting better and better at relaxing. When I see people walking past, I sometimes let them know I've noticed them, but with a little guidance I quickly calm down again. Now I'm looking for a loving home with someone who understands that trust takes time. A person with patience, a gentle approach, and an eye for my sensitive character. Someone who enjoys setting out together, taking long walks, and maybe one day following a training course. I love to learn and enjoy discovering new things together with you. If you give me the space to grow at my own pace, I promise I will show more and more of my sweet, playful and loyal character. Are you the one with whom I can truly be myself?

About Zoe

What life with Zoe looks like

Zoe is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Stichting Dogs on a Journey in Netherlands.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zoe, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zoe?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Stichting Dogs on a Journey handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zoe on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zoe if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Stichting Dogs on a Journey will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Zoe already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zoe isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Stichting Dogs on a Journey early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zoe and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
