Zola

Mixed Breed · Female

💗 ZOLA 💗 NOVGRAD 📍 Location: Croatia, near Zagreb — can be visited anytime 🐾 General Information: • Name: ZOLA • Age: approx. 3.5 years • Gender: female • Breed: German Shepherd mix 🐾 Health: • Overall condition: good • Spayed • Previously operated on for a broken leg—has healed very well • Weight: approx. 27 kg • Height: approx. 55 cm The descriptions of the dogs provided by the foster homes in Croatia are based on current impressions from the location and do not guarantee the dog’s future behavior or development. 🐾 Character & Behavior: Zola is an impressive and strong-willed female dog with a loving nature and many typical characteristics of a German Shepherd. She is intelligent, affectionate, and forms a close bond with her people. Her story began anything but easily: In the middle of winter, she was found in a village in Slavonia—alone on the street and with an open leg fracture. She underwent surgery by a specialist in Zagreb and has made an excellent recovery. Today, Zola shows herself to be an uncomplicated and independent dog. She is house-trained, tolerates car rides without any problems, and loves going for walks. Despite her past, she shows no signs of trauma or severe insecurity. With other dogs, Zola tends to be rather selective. Although she currently lives with other dogs at her foster home, she prefers calm, older dogs with low energy levels. She does not like cats or chickens. A home without other animals would therefore be ideal, so that she can have her humans all to herself. 🐾 Special Preferences: • Very people-oriented and affectionate • Intelligent and quick to learn • Typical German Shepherd traits • Loves going for walks • Independent and confident • Travels comfortably in the car • Familiar with life indoors • Loyal companion with a strong character 🏡 Your Dream Home: 💗 Preferably as an only dog 💗 Quiet and stable environment 💗 People who enjoy having an intelligent dog 💗 People with time for shared activities 💗 Preferably with previous dog experience 💌 How You Can Help: ❣️ Adopt ❣️ Offer foster care ❣️ Share—so that ZOLA can finally find her family 🐾❤️

About Zola

What life with Zola looks like

Zola is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hund sucht Hütte in Austria.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zola, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zola?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hund sucht Hütte handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zola on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zola if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hund sucht Hütte will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zola already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zola isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hund sucht Hütte early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zola and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
