Adopt Zurückhaltender Joda

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 15 years

Vermittlungshilfe – male dog JODA in 38678 Clausthal-Zellerfeld is looking for a new home or foster home. Background: Joda and his sister Bailey were found as puppies in a bad condition on a field (a third sibling had already passed away) and came to Flori’s shelter. Until his travel arrangements, he lived in the shelter in a small pack with varying canine companions. There, he was quiet and gentle, reserved towards his caregivers, but no pushy dog, and had no fear of touch. Current location: On January 24, he arrived in Germany, but cannot stay there and is therefore looking for a new suitable home, also a foster home is possible. He lives there with an older couple without children and without other pets. Character: Joda is still very overwhelmed by rooms in the house and outside on the yard and looks for corners where he can hide. On the yard, he shows extreme stress. He is afraid of the unknown, does not yet dare to enter certain rooms. It is likely that he generally still has many environmental fears and also finds everyday objects and sounds anxious. Even the leash still scares him. Experiences: He knows life in the house and calms down and relaxes there. Walking on a leash and with a harness is still unknown to him. Behavior: Initially, he shows fear towards adults, but soon warms up and enjoys gentle cuddles on the sofa. He has no experience with children or cats. With the dogs in Romania, he got along well. We are looking for: Joda wishes for quiet people without much chaos. Children should be at least 15 years old. A nice only dog that can provide security is welcome. The house or apartment should be in the countryside and have at least a small garden, as Joda cannot walk yet. (Fear-)Dog experience, a lot of time and patience in the beginning are necessary. Age: ca. 30.03.2024 Castration status: neutered Fully vaccinated, treated against parasites & microchipped Mediterranean disease test: negative

About Zurückhaltender Joda

What life with Zurückhaltender Joda looks like

Zurückhaltender Joda is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Free Dogs - Vergessene Tiere in Not e.V. in Großefehn.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zurückhaltender Joda, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zurückhaltender Joda?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Free Dogs - Vergessene Tiere in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zurückhaltender Joda on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zurückhaltender Joda if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Free Dogs - Vergessene Tiere in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zurückhaltender Joda already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zurückhaltender Joda isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Free Dogs - Vergessene Tiere in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zurückhaltender Joda and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
