Billi wurde aus einem öffentlichen Tierheim in Rumänien gerettet. Diese Tierheime sind stark überfüllt und kleine Hunde wie Billi sind am wahrscheinlichsten, attackiert zu werden. Viele Hunde überleben diese Angriffe nicht, und so war Billi ein glücklicher Junge, dass er entkommen konnte. Als Billi bei Oakwood ankam, stellten wir fest, dass er nicht vollständig belastbar auf seinem BL Bein war. Wir gaben ihm Schmerzmittel und Ruhe im Käfig, aber als dies nicht half, schickten wir ihn direkt nach Röntgen. Leider hat Billi mehrere Probleme mit seinen Beinen, die chirurgische Eingriffe erfordern werden. Sein hinteres rechtes Bein: Er hat eine luxierende Patella Grad 2. Sein linkes Bein: Er hat eine luxierende Patella Grad 3/4. Er hat auch einen alten Bruch, der vollständig unnormal verheilt ist, man kann das Knochen fast durch die Haut fühlen, selbst bei der sanftesten Berührung. Um die Operation noch schwieriger zu machen, hat sich der Bruch so unnormal verheilt, dass Billi ein Bein um 2 Zoll kürzer als sein anderes hat. Auch seine Hüften haben einen Drehwinkel von 20 %, was Billi im Alltag nicht beeinflusst, aber die Schwierigkeit der Operation beeinflussen wird. Daher befinden wir uns derzeit in Diskussionen mit Spezialisten, was der beste Handlungsplan sein wird. Wir hoffen idealerweise, eine Familie für Billi zu finden, die „Fostermutter mit Blick auf Adoption“ ist. Alle Operationen bezüglich dieser Probleme werden vom Oakwood Dog Rescue übernommen. Billi hat sich gut mit allen Hunden verstanden, die wir ihn bisher gemischt haben. Er wird manchmal etwas zu aufgeregt mit den Weibchen und versucht, sie zu mounten. Wenn sie es nicht zulassen, steht er auf und bellt sie an:/ Aufgrund der bevorstehenden Operationen denken wir, dass es besser für Billi wäre, in einem Zuhause ohne andere Haushundresidenz zu sein. Billi war sehr sanft mit der Katze während des Tests, er zeigte kein Jagdtrieb. Billi hat sich als aktiver kleiner Hund gezeigt, obwohl er schnell abgelenkt wird, wenn Snuggles angeboten werden. Billi hat noch nie zuvor in einem Zuhause gelebt, also muss er so wenig wie möglich alleine gelassen werden, während er sich einlebt und lernt. Aufgrund seiner Beinprobleme haben wir Billi noch nicht mit Leinen-Training begonnen. Billi hat keine Form von Grundausbildung.

Billi was rescued from a public shelter in Romania. These shelters are severely over capacity and small dogs like Billi are the most likely to be attacked, a lot of dogs don't survive these attacks and so Billi was such a lucky boy to get out. Upon arriving at Oakwood, we noticed Billi was not fully weight bearing on his BL leg. We put him on pain meds and kennels rest but when this wasn't working, we sent him straight from X-rays. Unfortunately, it was found that Billi's hind left leg had luxating patella grade 3/4. He also had an old break that has healed so abnormally that you could feel the bone almost protruding through his skin, even with the gentlest touch. After many discussions with different specialists, it was decided that the best plan of action was to amputate the left hind leg. Billi has now had this surgery and is in recovery. He is doing amazingly well and seems so much happier without the constant pain that he must've been in. His hind right leg does also have milder luxating patella . When speaking with the vet regarding this, the answer was 50/50 as to whether he will be absolutely fine living with this with no further medical intervention and it seems to be causing him absolutely no issues at this time however, there is always the possibility later in life that the luxating patella could get worse and he could need anything from pain management to possible surgical intervention. The vet advised there was just no way of knowing but at this time, Billi is a very happy and heatlhy boy and has now been signed off from veterinary care regarding his legs. We understand that this can all sound very scary to a potentail adopter but after surviving all of the above, Billy is the most loving, cuddly and happy boy that loves every minute of his lift and he deserves the chance of a loving, forever home as much as any of the others, we really hope that people can see past his missing leg and love him for the sweet boy that he is. Billi has shown to do well with all the dogs that we have mixed him with so far. He does get a little too excited with the girls and will try to hump them. If they don't allow it, he will stand and bark at them :/ We'd consider Billy being adopted into a home with another / other dogs based on the right match however, we believe he'd also be absolutely fine as an only dog. Billi was very gently with the cat upon testing, he showed no prey drive. Billi has shown to be an active little dog although he's soon distracted when snuggles are offered. Billi has been lucky enough to spend a few weeks in foster with one of our staff members and we believe in a new home, he'd be fine to be left up to 4-5 hours Billi has been doing great with his lead training although he has started to show signs of slight dog reactivity which is currently being worked on Billi has no form of basic training althought he's done great with his toilet training. It's likely that's he'll have accidents in his new home but with consistency and patience, he has shown that he can very quickly pick up toilet training in a home
