Billi hittades i en offentlig djurhem i Rumänien. Dessa hem är väldigt överfulla och små hundar som Billi är de mest sannolika att bli attackerade, många hundar dör vid dessa attacker och så var Billi en turig pojke att kunna komma ut. När Billi kom till Oakwood märkte vi att han inte fullt ut bär vikt på sin BL-lång. Vi gav honom smärtmedel och vila i kubb, men när detta inte fungerade skickade vi direkt upp honom för röntgen. Tyvärr har Billi flera problem med sina ben som kommer att kräva kirurgi. Hans bakre högra fot: Han har luxaterande knägrad 2. Hans vänstra fot: Han har luxaterande knägrad 3/4. Han har också en gammal bråk som har nästan helt ovanligt återhämtat sig i den här foten, du kan känna benet nästan framträdande genom huden, även med den mjukaste beröring. För att göra operationen ännu mer svår har bråket hämtat sig så ovanligt att det har gjort att Billi har en fot som är 2 tum kortare än den andra. Hans höfter är också i en rotationsvinkel på 20 % som inte påverkar Billies vardagliga liv, men kommer att påverka svårighetsgraden av operationen och så är vi just nu i diskussioner med specialister om vad det bästa handlingsalternativet kommer att vara. Vi hoppas att vi ska söka ett hem för Billi som en "fosterhund med syfte att adoptera". Alla operationer angående dessa problem kommer att betalas av Oakwood Dog Rescue. Billi har visat sig göra det bra med alla hundar som vi har blandat honom med hittills. Han blir lite för upphetsad med flickorna och försöker att koppla dem. Om de inte tillåter det står han och barkar mot dem :/ På grund av de kommande operationerna tror vi att det kommer att vara bäst för Billi att vara i ett hem utan andra bosatta hundar. Billi var mycket försiktig med katten under provningen, han visade ingen jaktdrift. Billi har visat sig vara en aktiv liten hund trots att han snabbt blir distraherad när han får kramar. Billi har aldrig bott i ett hem tidigare så han kommer att behöva lämnas ensam så lite som möjligt medan han sätter sig in och lär sig reglerna. På grund av hans benproblem har vi ännu inte börjat leddträning med Billi. Billi har inga former av grundläggande träning.

Billi was rescued from a public shelter in Romania. These shelters are severely over capacity and small dogs like Billi are the most likely to be attacked, a lot of dogs don't survive these attacks and so Billi was such a lucky boy to get out. Upon arriving at Oakwood, we noticed Billi was not fully weight bearing on his BL leg. We put him on pain meds and kennels rest but when this wasn't working, we sent him straight from X-rays. Unfortunately, it was found that Billi's hind left leg had luxating patella grade 3/4. He also had an old break that has healed so abnormally that you could feel the bone almost protruding through his skin, even with the gentlest touch. After many discussions with different specialists, it was decided that the best plan of action was to amputate the left hind leg. Billi has now had this surgery and is in recovery. He is doing amazingly well and seems so much happier without the constant pain that he must've been in. His hind right leg does also have milder luxating patella . When speaking with the vet regarding this, the answer was 50/50 as to whether he will be absolutely fine living with this with no further medical intervention and it seems to be causing him absolutely no issues at this time however, there is always the possibility later in life that the luxating patella could get worse and he could need anything from pain management to possible surgical intervention. The vet advised there was just no way of knowing but at this time, Billi is a very happy and heatlhy boy and has now been signed off from veterinary care regarding his legs. We understand that this can all sound very scary to a potentail adopter but after surviving all of the above, Billy is the most loving, cuddly and happy boy that loves every minute of his lift and he deserves the chance of a loving, forever home as much as any of the others, we really hope that people can see past his missing leg and love him for the sweet boy that he is. Billi has shown to do well with all the dogs that we have mixed him with so far. He does get a little too excited with the girls and will try to hump them. If they don't allow it, he will stand and bark at them :/ We'd consider Billy being adopted into a home with another / other dogs based on the right match however, we believe he'd also be absolutely fine as an only dog. Billi was very gently with the cat upon testing, he showed no prey drive. Billi has shown to be an active little dog although he's soon distracted when snuggles are offered. Billi has been lucky enough to spend a few weeks in foster with one of our staff members and we believe in a new home, he'd be fine to be left up to 4-5 hours Billi has been doing great with his lead training although he has started to show signs of slight dog reactivity which is currently being worked on Billi has no form of basic training althought he's done great with his toilet training. It's likely that's he'll have accidents in his new home but with consistency and patience, he has shown that he can very quickly pick up toilet training in a home
