Billi ble reddet fra et offentlig dyrehjem i Romania. Disse dyrehjemmene er svært overbelastet og små hunder som Billi er de mest sannsynlige til å bli angrepet, mange hunder klarer ikke disse angrepene og Billi var derfor en heldig gutt å komme ut. Da Billi ankom Oakwood så vi at Billi ikke hadde full vekt på hans BL-lår. Vi satte ham på smertestillende og fangstid, men da dette ikke funket, sendte vi ham rett fra røntgen. Dessverre har Billi flere problemer med bena som vil kreve kirurgisk innblanding. Hans bakre høyre ben: Han har luxaterende kneledd grad 2 Hans venstre ben: Han har luxaterende kneledd grad 3/4. Han har også en gammel brudd som har helbredt helt feilaktig i dette benet, du kan føle beinet nesten fremtrekkende gjennom huden, selv med den mest nakne berøringen. For å gjøre operasjonen enda mer vanskelig, har bruddet helet slik at Billi har et ben 2 tommer kortere enn det andre. Hans hofter er også på et 20% rotasjonsvinkel som ikke påvirker Billie i hverdagen, men vil påvirke vanskelighetsgraden av operasjonen, og derfor er vi nå i diskusjon med spesialister om hva det beste planen for handling er going to være. Vi vil ideelt sett lete etter et hjem for Billi som en "foster med mål om å adoptere". Alle operasjoner knyttet til disse problemene vil bli betalt av Oakwood Dog Rescue. Billi har vist seg å gjøre bra med alle hundene vi har blanda han med så langt. Han blir litt for opptatt av jentene og prøver å humpa dem. Hvis de ikke tillater det, står han og barker mot dem :/ På grunn av de kommende operasjonene mener vi det vil være best for Billi å være i et hjem uten andre boende hunder. Billi var meget mykt med katten under testing, han viste ingen byttefølelse. Billi har vist seg å være en aktiv liten hund selv om han snart blir avledet når mykhet blir tilbudt. Billi har aldri levde i et hjem før, så han trenger å være så lite som mulig alene mens han kommer seg inn og lærer seg rutiner. På grunn av hans benproblemer har vi ikke startet ledetraining med Billi ennå. Billi har ingen form for grunnleggende trening.

Billi was rescued from a public shelter in Romania. These shelters are severely over capacity and small dogs like Billi are the most likely to be attacked, a lot of dogs don't survive these attacks and so Billi was such a lucky boy to get out. Upon arriving at Oakwood, we noticed Billi was not fully weight bearing on his BL leg. We put him on pain meds and kennels rest but when this wasn't working, we sent him straight from X-rays. Unfortunately, it was found that Billi's hind left leg had luxating patella grade 3/4. He also had an old break that has healed so abnormally that you could feel the bone almost protruding through his skin, even with the gentlest touch. After many discussions with different specialists, it was decided that the best plan of action was to amputate the left hind leg. Billi has now had this surgery and is in recovery. He is doing amazingly well and seems so much happier without the constant pain that he must've been in. His hind right leg does also have milder luxating patella . When speaking with the vet regarding this, the answer was 50/50 as to whether he will be absolutely fine living with this with no further medical intervention and it seems to be causing him absolutely no issues at this time however, there is always the possibility later in life that the luxating patella could get worse and he could need anything from pain management to possible surgical intervention. The vet advised there was just no way of knowing but at this time, Billi is a very happy and heatlhy boy and has now been signed off from veterinary care regarding his legs. We understand that this can all sound very scary to a potentail adopter but after surviving all of the above, Billy is the most loving, cuddly and happy boy that loves every minute of his lift and he deserves the chance of a loving, forever home as much as any of the others, we really hope that people can see past his missing leg and love him for the sweet boy that he is. Billi has shown to do well with all the dogs that we have mixed him with so far. He does get a little too excited with the girls and will try to hump them. If they don't allow it, he will stand and bark at them :/ We'd consider Billy being adopted into a home with another / other dogs based on the right match however, we believe he'd also be absolutely fine as an only dog. Billi was very gently with the cat upon testing, he showed no prey drive. Billi has shown to be an active little dog although he's soon distracted when snuggles are offered. Billi has been lucky enough to spend a few weeks in foster with one of our staff members and we believe in a new home, he'd be fine to be left up to 4-5 hours Billi has been doing great with his lead training although he has started to show signs of slight dog reactivity which is currently being worked on Billi has no form of basic training althought he's done great with his toilet training. It's likely that's he'll have accidents in his new home but with consistency and patience, he has shown that he can very quickly pick up toilet training in a home
