Billi è stato salvato da un rifugio pubblico in Romania. Questi rifugi sono estremamente sovraffollati e i cani piccoli come Billi sono quelli più probabili ad essere attaccati, molti cani non sopravvivono a questi attacchi e quindi Billi è stato un fortunato ragazzo a uscirne. All'arrivo a Oakwood, abbiamo notato che Billi non sosteneva completamente il peso sulla sua gamba BL. Lo abbiamo messo su farmaci per il dolore e riposo in recinzione, ma quando questo non ha funzionato, lo abbiamo inviato direttamente dalle radiografie. Purtroppo Billi ha diversi problemi alle gambe che richiederanno interventi chirurgici. La sua gamba destra posteriore: ha una lussazione della rotula di grado 2. La sua gamba sinistra: ha una lussazione della rotula di grado 3/4. Ha anche una frattura vecchia che si è guarita completamente in modo anomalo in questa gamba, si può sentire quasi la sporgenza del osso attraverso la pelle, anche con il tocco più delicato. Per rendere la chirurgia ancora più difficile, la frattura si è guarita in modo così anomalo che ha lasciato a Billi una gamba 2 pollici più corta rispetto all'altra. I suoi bacini sono anche inclinati di un angolo di 20% che non influisce sulla vita quotidiana di Billie, ma influenzerà la difficoltà della chirurgia e quindi stiamo attualmente discutendo con specialisti per decidere il miglior piano d'azione. Saremo idealmente alla ricerca di una casa per Billi come "foster con prospettiva di adozione". Tutte le chirurgie relative a questi problemi saranno pagate da Oakwood Dog Rescue. Billi si è comportato bene con tutti i cani con cui lo abbiamo mescolato finora. Diventa un po' troppo eccitato con le femmine e cercherà di montarle. Se non glielo permettono, si fermerà e abbaiarà loro :/ A causa delle chirurgie imminenti, pensiamo sia meglio che Billi viva in una casa senza altri cani residenti. Billi è stato molto dolce con il gatto durante il test, non ha mostrato alcun istinto predatorio. Billi si è dimostrato un cane attivo, anche se si distragge facilmente quando gli si offrono coccole. Billi non ha mai vissuto in una casa prima, quindi dovrà essere lasciato il meno possibile mentre si abitua e impara le regole. A causa dei suoi problemi alle gambe, non abbiamo ancora iniziato il training con la guida per Billi. Billi non ha nessun tipo di addestramento di base.

Billi was rescued from a public shelter in Romania. These shelters are severely over capacity and small dogs like Billi are the most likely to be attacked, a lot of dogs don't survive these attacks and so Billi was such a lucky boy to get out. Upon arriving at Oakwood, we noticed Billi was not fully weight bearing on his BL leg. We put him on pain meds and kennels rest but when this wasn't working, we sent him straight from X-rays. Unfortunately, it was found that Billi's hind left leg had luxating patella grade 3/4. He also had an old break that has healed so abnormally that you could feel the bone almost protruding through his skin, even with the gentlest touch. After many discussions with different specialists, it was decided that the best plan of action was to amputate the left hind leg. Billi has now had this surgery and is in recovery. He is doing amazingly well and seems so much happier without the constant pain that he must've been in. His hind right leg does also have milder luxating patella . When speaking with the vet regarding this, the answer was 50/50 as to whether he will be absolutely fine living with this with no further medical intervention and it seems to be causing him absolutely no issues at this time however, there is always the possibility later in life that the luxating patella could get worse and he could need anything from pain management to possible surgical intervention. The vet advised there was just no way of knowing but at this time, Billi is a very happy and heatlhy boy and has now been signed off from veterinary care regarding his legs. We understand that this can all sound very scary to a potentail adopter but after surviving all of the above, Billy is the most loving, cuddly and happy boy that loves every minute of his lift and he deserves the chance of a loving, forever home as much as any of the others, we really hope that people can see past his missing leg and love him for the sweet boy that he is. Billi has shown to do well with all the dogs that we have mixed him with so far. He does get a little too excited with the girls and will try to hump them. If they don't allow it, he will stand and bark at them :/ We'd consider Billy being adopted into a home with another / other dogs based on the right match however, we believe he'd also be absolutely fine as an only dog. Billi was very gently with the cat upon testing, he showed no prey drive. Billi has shown to be an active little dog although he's soon distracted when snuggles are offered. Billi has been lucky enough to spend a few weeks in foster with one of our staff members and we believe in a new home, he'd be fine to be left up to 4-5 hours Billi has been doing great with his lead training although he has started to show signs of slight dog reactivity which is currently being worked on Billi has no form of basic training althought he's done great with his toilet training. It's likely that's he'll have accidents in his new home but with consistency and patience, he has shown that he can very quickly pick up toilet training in a home
