Groot llegó recientemente a nosotros el mes pasado [26 de marzo] después de evitar por poco ser eutanasiado en un refugio varias horas lejos de Hull. Los responsables del refugio intentaron todo y en un último esfuerzo para salvar su vida, contactaron con rescatistas más lejos. Cuando recibimos su correo electrónico, acabábamos de enviar a un perro a su hogar para siempre y así que Groot subió directamente al coche de un voluntario y se fue hacia Oakwood Dog Rescue para mudarse a la jaula aún cálida y vacía. Groot ha demostrado ser nada más que un gigante absolutamente tranquilo y ama estar con sus personas. Debido a que Groot aún no ha sido castrado, no hemos podido mezclarlo con ninguno de los otros perros. Ha visto a las chicas pasando y es tranquilo con una cola moviéndose suavemente, los chicos no le gustan y han sido muy reactivos pero Groot ni siquiera se inmuta, es muy tranquilo con ellos todos, incluso cuando son tan desagradables con él. Hasta que Groot sea esterilizado y sus hormonas se hayan calmado, no podremos hacer ninguna mezcla de perros con él y por lo tanto no podríamos considerar un hogar con otro perro en este momento. Debido a su raza que tiende a tener instinto natural de caza, Groot no puede vivir en un hogar con gatos. Groot ha demostrado ser un chico muy tranquilo. Creemos que es uno de esos perros que tendría una explosión loca de 5-10 minutos sin correa y luego estaría contento durmiendo el resto del día. Aún está bajo evaluación respecto a esto, ya que es nuevo. Groot es muy silencioso en su jaula, apenas sabemos que está allí. Creemos que en un hogar podría estar bien solo 4-5 horas pero esto podría necesitar construirse con el tiempo. Groot camina perfectamente en correa. Groot ha demostrado no tener ningún tipo de entrenamiento. A veces hace un "siéntate" para nosotros y es impecable en su jaula pero es probable que no esté completamente entrenado para ir al baño y esto podría necesitar trabajo en un hogar.

Groot recently arrived to us last month after very narrowly avoiding being euthanised in a pound several hours away from Hull. The pound pullers had tried everything and in a last ditch attempt to save his life, they contacted rescues further afield. When we recived their email, we'd just had a dog head off to their forever home and so Groot jumped straight into the car of a volunteer and headed over to Oakwood Dog Rescue to move into the still warm, empty kennel. Groot has showed to be nothing more than an absolute gentle giant and absolutely loves being with his people. Due to Groot not yet been castrated, we've not been able to mix him with any of the other dogs. He's seen the girls in passsing and is calm with a soft wagging tail, the boys do not like him and have been super reactive but Groot barely even flinches, he's super chilled out with them all, even when they're being so unwelcoming to him. Until Groot is neutered and his hormones have settled, we won't be able to do any dog mixing with him and so couldn't look at considering a home with another dog at this time. Due to his breed that tends to have natural prey instinct, Groot is not able to live in a home with cats. Groot has shown to be a very chilled out boy. We think he's one of those dogs that would have a mad 5-10 minute blast off lead and then be content with snoozing for the rest of the day.He is still under assessment regarding this though, with him being new in. Groot is very quiet in his kennel, we barely even know he's there. We believe in a home that he'd be ok to be left 4-5 hours but this could need building up over time. Groot walks absolutely lovely on a lead. Groot has shown to not have any form of training. He does occassionally do a 'sit' for us and he is spotless in his kennel but it's likely that he won't be fully housetrained and this may need to be worked on in a home.
