Meet Sweet Nectar, our adorable young boy who is looking for an extra-special home where he can take his time to blossom and grow in confidence. Nectar found himself with us as a stray at just 6 months old, and the big wide world can feel like a very scary place for this sensitive little chap. He is looking for someone who understands that confidence doesn’t grow overnight and is willing to take things slowly, patiently and consistently while he learns that the world isn’t quite as frightening as he thinks. Nectar absolutely loves his tasty treats and adores his toys, which are a wonderful way of helping him feel more comfortable and begin building friendships with his people. His adopters will need to be prepared to visit him several times at the centre, allowing him to build a relationship at his own pace before he is ready to take the next step of coming home. A safe and secure garden will be essential for Nectar. This will give him a safe space to explore while he continues to build his confidence in the outside world, as well as providing somewhere to support him with his housetraining. Nectar would benefit from living with an older, calm and confident resident dog who can help show him that there is nothing to be scared of. He can easily become overwhelmed by excitable dogs, so he would be best suited to quieter walking routes away from busy areas and lots of off-lead dogs. If approached by an unfamiliar dog, Nectar is likely to panic, so his new family will need to be mindful of this and help him feel safe. There is no doubt that Nectar will need time, patience and plenty of gentle encouragement, but watching this sweet boy blossom will be incredibly rewarding. With the right person by his side, we think Nectar could grow into a wonderful, loving companion. He may be a little nervous now, but with a little time, patience and lots of TLC, we’re sure this little Nectar will be the sweetest addition to the right family.
