Adopt Tess

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 9 years

Tess is a gentle, affectionate girl who loves being out and about, exploring woodland walks and discovering new places with her favourite people. She can find busier environments a little overwhelming, so she would benefit from a home with access to quiet walking routes where she can explore at her own pace. Tess enjoys having calm canine friends join her on walks, but can become worried if unfamiliar off-lead dogs rush up to her, particularly when she is enjoying her toys. Tess would prefer to be the only dog in the home, where she can enjoy all the toys and attention to herself. Tess is a real toy enthusiast! Balls and squeaky toys are firm favourites, but she’s not particularly fussy and will happily investigate whatever you have to offer. Her love of toys is also a great way for her new family to build a bond with her. After a day of exploring and throwing her toys around, Tess is more than happy to curl up beside her favourite people for a well-earned snooze. She loves being around people and is looking for adopters who are home for most of the day and can help her gradually build up to being left for short periods. Tess is looking for a loving home where she can enjoy quiet adventures, plenty of playtime and lots of cosy cuddles with her people.Apply to adopt Published: 8th August, 2026 Updated: 28th September, 2026 Author: Katrina Hyde Titus is a Jack Russell cross Chihuahua looking for his forever home. About Adopt Tess

What life with Adopt Tess looks like

Adopt Tess is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Hope Rescue in Pontyclun.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Adopt Tess, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Adopt Tess?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hope Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Adopt Tess on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Adopt Tess if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hope Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Adopt Tess already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Adopt Tess isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hope Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Adopt Tess and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
