Adopt Airon

German Shepherd · Male · Senior · 10 years

During our project trip at the end of October 2025, we also got to know this German Shepherd who arrived at Canile in mid-September. Airon, as the handsome male dog is named, had once had a owner. He was doing well, and he was loved. But then his master passed away, and Airon didn't understand the world anymore. He was very sad, and the family of the deceased felt overwhelmed. Therefore, they sought help within their circle of acquaintances, and so the appeal reached our partners in Arzachena. Airon was very happy when we came to his enclosure. He enjoyed the cuddles and, of course, also the treats. One could see that he feels very lonely at Canile, but that is no wonder, for he had lived many years in a family environment. We wish very much that Airon doesn't have to stay at Canile for too long but that we can bring him back to Germany soon so that he can be happy with loving people again. Would you like to take Airon into your family and let him participate in all family activities? If you are currently looking for a new furry family member and are aware that adoption means not only a lot of joy but also work and great responsibility, then we look forward to your message. We provide nationwide support.

About Airon

What life with Airon looks like

Airon is a large senior german shepherd dog waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Airon, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Airon?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Airon on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Airon if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Airon already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Airon isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Airon and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
