Katar

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

By the end of 2025, this pretty female dog had been picked up when she was aimlessly wandering around the Campagna of Arzachena. The Vigili caught her and brought her to the safety of our shelter. The female dog, now registered under the name Katar, is still in the quarantine area. But because she is so loving and friendly, she can spend the whole day in the large outdoor area with her new friend Gypsi. It is likely that Katar once belonged to a hunter. She is missing a hind leg. It is assumed that she got her leg caught in a trap and lost it. Regardless of whether she once belonged to a hunter or a family, she was not wanted as a three-legged dog. Katar has no problems with her three-leggedness at all. She is agile on the go, the wound has healed well, shows no signs of infection, because Katar does not use the shortened leg either when walking or standing. Katar and Gypsi greeted us very happily when we entered the outdoor area. The two enjoyed our cuddles very much, and our treats were also gladly accepted. For the extremely friendly and people-oriented Katar, we very much hope that her stay at our shelter will be of short duration and that we can bring her to Germany soon. Here, she should find her forever home with loving people. Would you like to enrich your family with this lovely female dog? On our team project tour, we got to know many wonderful snouts. One of them is the charming Katar. As seen in the video, she really blossoms with human proximity: she is overjoyed by visitors, enjoys every bit of attention, and prefers to be belly-rubbed. Katar shows herself to us as an incredibly loving, open female dog who clearly enjoys every caress. If you are currently looking for a new furry family member and are aware that dogs bring joy but also require a lot of work and great responsibility, then we look forward to your message. We provide nationwide dog placements.

29. Mai 2026:Katar durfte auf ihren deutschen Pflegeplatz reisen.05. About Katar

What life with Katar looks like

Katar is a extra-large adult mixed breed dog waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Katar, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Katar?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Katar on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Katar if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Katar already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Katar isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Katar and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
