Al Poochino

Lurcher · Male · Young · 2 years

Al Poochino is a gorgeous boy with a temperament to match! He can jump up at times, and is a tall boy, so would need confident teenagers in the home that can tolerate his bouncy behaviour. He is very friendly with new people and friends, and would cope in a reasonably busy home. Al Poochino walks well on lead, and is happy with all handling. He would cope being left on his own for up to 4 hours at a time, and is also house-trained (though, he may need a bit of reminding here and there!). Meet the most handsome, scruffy boy... Al Poochino! Al Poochino is a 2-year old Lurcher looking for his forever home. Al Poochino is able to live with another similar sized dog in the home, as he is social! He can, though, guard food from other dogs, so feeding times will need to be managed. Al Poochino would like all children in the home to be sensible & secondary school aged and over as he can get a bit overexcited at times. He is a super boy, who is very lovely and adores a cuddle. He is very foodie, which will help with any training needs, and will also do a nice sit & paw for a snack! Al Poochino loves being around his people, and is a confident boy out and about. He loves his sniffy walks, and will need an active home where he can be taken for lots of fun walks and adventures! Al Poochino loves a soft bed and enjoys curling up for a snooze after a long day of fun. He loves a high value treat such as ham or cheese, and is very clever so will be quick to learn new skills. Al Poochino will be a brilliant family dog that are looking for a goofy friend to go on fun adventures with. He will be a brilliant addition to the home and we can't wait to see him thriving.

About Al Poochino

What life with Al Poochino looks like

Al Poochino is a young adult lurcher dog waiting at Dogs Trust Cardiff in Cardiff.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Al Poochino, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Al Poochino?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Cardiff handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Al Poochino on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Al Poochino if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Cardiff will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Al Poochino already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Al Poochino isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Cardiff early rather than rehoming privately; they know Al Poochino and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
