Albi &#8211

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 7 years

Albi was recently found by the animal welfare organization "El buen amigo" on the street. He was quite energetic. His bright white fur was rather gray, his eyes that are now so alert were dull, and he was hungry, dehydrated, and sad. But all of this is in Albi's past now. The 7-year-old (as of July 2026) Podenco male has left it all behind without looking back for even a second. Albi is ready to start his new life! Upon arrival at the shelter, our heartthrob took some time off: he slept and only woke up to eat. After this well-deserved rest period, however, a different picture of the newcomer emerged. Albi made contact with his roommates, plays with devotion with his many new friends now, is attentive and extremely sociable towards the volunteer helpers. He quickly became a favorite among both young and old - only his own home has not yet been found by this cheerful charmer. Albi is looking for a humorous family that has plenty of time for him. He was alone long enough and now wants to be involved everywhere. At 7 years old, Albi is still in top shape, but brings life experience and calmness - and wants to share these with his favorite people. Albi does not need to be entertained all day, but he wants to feel that he finally belongs somewhere, that he has a home, security, and warmth, and that he will never be left behind again. If you are looking for a motivated companion for your walks, a foot warmer for work at the computer, a soft hot water bottle for long winter evenings in front of the TV, an ambitious pre-heater and pocket controller, then you should think carefully about whether you can really resist Albi's red nose and bat ears - or if it is not time for you to start the adventure Podenco and join this exclusive club of our adopters whose unanimous motto is: "Once a Podenco, always a Podenco!"

DE·Show original

About Albi &#8211

What life with Albi &#8211 looks like

Albi &#8211 is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Albi &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Albi &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Albi &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Albi &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Albi &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Albi &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Albi &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
