Adopt Alex

Unknown · Young · 1 year

Update 01.05.2026 Alex has settled in well at her foster home. She currently still loves her cozy, protected spots and likes to retreat there to relax, but is becoming more and more curious from day to day and now moves around the apartment quite naturally. She is a cat that does not push herself forward, but quietly shows how much trust and affection is in her. Alex is very people-oriented and seeks closeness - in her own loving way. Especially nice are the quiet cuddling moments: As soon as her foster mother sits on the sofa, Alex comes over, climbs onto the lap and prefers to snuggle up in the lotus position - exactly in the little "hollow", as if she had found her favorite spot there. She enjoys every petting session calmly. Alex is a calm, gentle cat. She does not need a big adventure, but above all wishes for closeness, security and a relaxed everyday life with her humans. Her surgically shortened tail does not bother her at all - everything has healed well, she moves confidently, plays normally and has no pain. The cuddly Alex is looking for a loving home with a suitable cat-friendly person and the possibility of free ranging in a quiet environment. Alex can be visited and met at her foster home in Herne/NRW. If you are interested, I look forward to your message or a call. Update 12.04.2026 Alex was able to leave the animal shelter together with Titti and travel to a loving foster home. Updates and pictures will follow soon! Alex's story: Alex did not have an easy start in life. She lived with a woman on Sardinia together with several cats and dogs - an environment that was not safe for the kitten. At just five months old, she was bitten in the tail by one of the dogs. This cat needs outdoor access.

About Alex

What life with Alex looks like

Alex is a large young adult cat waiting at PfotenFreunde Sardinien e.V. in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Alex, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Alex?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. PfotenFreunde Sardinien e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Alex on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Alex if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — PfotenFreunde Sardinien e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Alex already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Alex isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with PfotenFreunde Sardinien e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Alex and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
