Alfie

Cockapoo Β· Male Β· Puppy Β· 8 months

Say hello to our handsome young man, Alfie! Alfie is a young, affectionate cockapoo with so much potential just waiting to be unlocked! His previous owners described him as the sweetest boy, a little shadow who loved being close to his people and enjoyed nothing more than having his ears scratched. With the right guidance, patience and consistency, we believe he has all the makings of a wonderful doggy friend. Though being young, Alfie is still learning about the world and developing the life skills he needs to become a well-rounded adult. He can struggle with excitement, frustration and understanding other dogs’ social cues, but he is already showing that he can learn, with recent progress in his training giving us plenty of reason to feel optimistic about his future! With other dogs, Alfie can find things overwhelming and needs support to learn appropriate social skills. We feel he could benefit from living with a calm, steady and tolerant dog who can help him learn, following careful introductions and assessment. Alfie will need experienced, committed owners who can provide clear boundaries, consistent training and plenty of positive guidance, as well as a home where someone is around for most of the day. A quieter area away from the busy inner city, with a private garden, would help him feel more settled and would be beneficial to help him flourish. Alfie may have some learning to do, but he is still young, has already begun making progress and has so much potential to grow into a fantastic adult dog. With the right people in his corner, willing to invest in his training and help him navigate the world, Alfie has every opportunity to excel in every department. If you have already completed our online rehoming form and would like to know more about Alfie, you can e-mail our rehoming team on to register your interest. tch for the dog in question.

About Alfie

What life with Alfie looks like

Alfie is a medium-sized puppy cockapoo dog waiting at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window β€” house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Alfie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Alfie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Alfie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Alfie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Alfie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Alfie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Alfie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
