Sandy

Cockapoo Β· Female Β· Adult Β· 4 years

22-10-26 Sandy is a very sweet lady who has come to us from a breeder and is still getting comfortable with her new surroundings and learning to trust us humans. She has lots of energy, which can sometimes come across as anxious, but she just needs time to settle in and realise that she is safe. Sandy is trying her hardest to brave, and can live with older-dog savvy children who are sensible. She will need her adopters to have experience with ex-breeders to better understand her needs. Sandy will need at least one kind and confident resident dog in her new home who can take her under their wing and help her build her confidence as she learns all about the big wide world. She has never lived in a home before, so her adopters will need to be patient and understanding as she learns about house training, walking on a lead and all the things that come with being a much-loved pet. Sandy will need time to come out of her shell, but watching her confidence grow and seeing her begin to trust her humans will be so rewarding. She just needs someone willing to give her the time and kindness she deserves, and we know she has the potential to blossom into a wonderful companion. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Sandy

What life with Sandy looks like

Sandy is a large adult cockapoo dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible β€” a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sandy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sandy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sandy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sandy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Sandy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sandy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sandy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
