Arco

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Reference No.: r-korfu-arco-m-0724 Note: Eye cloudiness Update March 2025: Arco now weighs a proud 49kg. Despite this, our little pony is a very funny clown who is really fun and will surely be a great companion! Update January 2025: Today, Arco was taken for a Sunday walk on the beach. He did it fantastically!!! He always stayed within range, and the leash was only taut at the beginning. He oriented himself well to his walkers. Only getting in and out of the car and rinsing off with a water hose still need some practice :-) July 2024: Arco is about 1.5 years old and around 65cm tall, weighing 35kg. He was found by tourists and, for his own safety, was taken into the animal shelter. In the animal shelter, Arco shows himself to be a playful boy. He is very friendly toward people and other dogs of both sexes. Arco's left eye is cloudy - this has been examined by a vet, but apart from eye drops, nothing can be done for him on Corfu, and fortunately, he seems to have no pain. He has already tested negative for Mediterranean diseases. Arco has packed his bag and is just waiting for his ticket to happiness! All dogs are initially vaccinated, microchipped, and have an EU pet passport.

20260218 01 Arco Februar 2026 20251003 04 Arco Oktober 2025

About Arco

What life with Arco looks like

Arco is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierhilfe Korfu e.V. in Ratingen.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Arco, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Arco?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierhilfe Korfu e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Arco on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Arco if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierhilfe Korfu e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Arco already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Arco isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierhilfe Korfu e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Arco and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
